Description

Orange peel/Kulit Oren/橙皮 is dried mandarin orange skin, it has a citrus taste to it and commonly used in Chinese cooking. It easily lands you a stash of dehydrated citrus zest that can fancy up all manner of everyday cooking and baking, whether whole or ground, including tea, cocktails, sauces, rubs, and garnishes. Make a really delicious marinade for chicken or fish with olive oil, ground orange peel, thyme for chicken or dill for fish. Basil for both. Also, you can add in salt, pepper, some garlic and you’ll have tons of flavour very easily. Dried orange peel makes a delicious, piquant addition to a wide variety of both savory and sweet dishes.

Suggested Use

Orange peel does work well in roasted dishes. In Chinese cooking, Mandarin orange peels are added to sweet dessert soups. Mix orange or lemon peels into homemade tea blends.  Infuse rice or quinoa with citrus flavor by adding dried peels to the water during boiling/steaming. Peels may be eaten or removed before serving. Grind peels with a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle and sprinkle over baked goods (combine with sugar for sweetness), use in marinades and rubs, or anything else you can think of.
