It is a flowering plant which belongs to the ginger family and the roots are usually use in cooking. It is commonly used in Asian food and as an ingredient in most curries and mustards, has a nearly 4000 years history of use as more than just a spice.

Apart from that, Turmeric’s deep-orange pigment that has warm and bitter taste is also well known as a colouring and flavouring agent in many Asian cuisines, especially for curries, mustards, butters and cheeses as well as for dyeing.
